Fishing at the Retreat
While you're staying at the Retreat you have a great opportunity to catch the fish of a lifetime ! You can fish straight off the Retreat grounds which makes for an ideal & comfortable spot to fish or venture to the many additional spots surrounding the saltwater lake including the upper creek, the sand flats or onto the main beach for some beach fishing. Pumping for yabbies on the flats is fun and is the best of 'free' bait.
Experienced anglers will see from the aerial photo the Retreat is extremely well positioned to maximise a wide range of fishing options. Our location is known for its abundance of saltwater species and to date 26 species have been caught from the lake waters that border the Retreat . There's always a chance you'll add to the list which includes the regular catches of Bream, Whiting, Flathead, Trevally and Mangrove Jack. The beach is accessed via a footbridge only 100m from the Retreat and leads to excellent beach & rock fishing options. The main beach fishes well and is intersected by 2 tidal creek entrances while a very comfortable easily accessible rock platform offers further options.
